Monolith Materials Plans to Build Country’s First Large Scale Carbon-Free Ammonia Plant

Monolith Materials write on PR Newswire that they are planning to build the nation’s first large-scale carbon-free ammonia plant.

The C3 Take
  • Ammonia production accounts for 1% of total global greenhouse gas emissions, which is roughly the equivalent of the United Kingdom’s total emissions.
  • By lowering ammonia’s carbon footprint, fertilizer’s carbon intensity will go down which could lead to an even cleaner agriculture sector.

“Combined, Monolith Materials’ carbon-free ammonia and carbon black production are expected to reduce greenhouse gas emissions by as much as 1 million metric tons per year compared to traditional manufacturing processes.”
