Keystone XL Oil Project Abandoned by Developer

Timothy Puko and Vipal Monga of The Wall Street Journal report that the Keystone XL project is officially done.

  • The Keystone XL project is officially over after being abandoned by its developer.
  • While many environmentalists may tout this as a win for the climate the oil will now likely be transported through more carbon-intensive means, such as rail and truck.
  • We should encourage, not discourage pipelines, as they are the most efficient and environmentally-friendly way to move fuel across the nation.

“Canada’s TC Energy Corp. and the Albertan provincial government said Wednesday they would scuttle the Keystone XL oil pipeline project, bringing to an end a yearslong controversy over an effort to pipe more Canadian crude to the U.S.”
