Global Nuclear Fuel and TerraPower Announce Natrium Fuel Facility

  • GE and TerraPower will build a fuel facility in Wilmington, North Carolina to power advanced nuclear reactors.
  • Construction for the plant is set to begin in 2023 and will support 500 new jobs over 5 years, 100 of which will be permanent.
  • TerraPower is currently building its novel Natrium nuclear reactor in Kemmerer, Wyoming on the site of a retired coal plant.

“The Natrium Fuel Facility will be jointly funded by TerraPower and the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) through the Advanced Reactor Demonstration Program, which aims to speed the demonstration of advanced reactors through cost-shared partnerships with U.S. industry. The facility represents an investment of more than $200 million.”
