DHL Supply Chain has signed a long-term contract with Fortum Battery Recycling, a division of Nordic energy company Fortum, to manage logistics services that support the collection, transport, and recycling of EV batteries. The partnership marks a significant step forward for Europe’s circular economy, positioning both companies as key players in sustainable e-mobility infrastructure.
Fortum Battery Recycling offers the only European solution covering every stage of the battery recycling value chain. Its advanced recovery processes extract critical raw materials—lithium, cobalt, and nickel—from spent EV batteries with low CO₂ emissions and minimal waste. This collaboration enables Fortum to scale its operations more efficiently while aligning with regional sustainability goals.
DHL’s role includes handling the entire logistics spectrum: from the safe transportation and interim storage of used EV batteries to their timely delivery at Fortum’s recycling facilities. These specialized service logistics ensure smooth, secure operations and compliance with high safety and environmental standards.
