Charles Kennedy of OilPrice.com reports that Chevron will produce carbon-negative energy in California.
- Chevron and Microsoft have teamed up to produce carbon-negative energy in California.
- The energy will be produced through bioenergy and carbon capture and sequestration (BECCS), a process in which agricultural waste biomass is converted into renewable synthesis gas while excess CO2 is injected and permanently stored underground.
- This project is expected to remove about 300,000 tons of CO2 annually.
- The ingenuity and innovation of the free market are unlocking new ways for us to reduce emissions.
“The bioenergy with carbon capture and sequestration (BECCS) project is planned to convert agricultural waste biomass, such as almond trees, into a renewable synthesis gas that will be mixed with oxygen in a combustor to generate electricity, the U.S. oil and gas supermajor said on Thursday as a growing number of oil corporations look to develop carbon capture technology and other low-carbon energy solutions.”
