Amazon and SpaceX vets apply their AI and satellite skills to new carbon accounting startup

  • While more companies than ever are announcing emissions reductions targets, it is hard to accurately monitor the effectiveness of these goals and companies’ practices.
  • Muir AI is looking to provide clarity with a system that combines satellite technology with artificial intelligence and machine learning to measure emissions reductions throughout a company’s supply chain.
  • Specifically the company is looking to help companies measure indirect, or Scope 3 emissions.
  • Muir is demoing its product to certain companies and hopes to have a publically available product later this year.

“If corporations had more accurate scope 3 data, they could optimize their efforts to reduce emissions and adjust supply chain operations, which could shave 7% off global emissions, Chalat said, citing research.”
