- Lululemon is looking to replace its oil-based nylon with plant-based nylon, while Dow is providing bioplastics for Crocs and perfume packaging.
- Private sector interest in bioplastics will reduce the green premium and lead to more widespread adoption of cleaner materials.
“Plants absorb the atmosphere’s carbon dioxide, which cuts the greenhouse-gas emissions from making bioplastics to at least half that of fossil-fuel-based plastics. Bioplastics can also sometimes cause less pollution when they degrade in the environment.”
