DOE Dumps ALARA: Will the NRC Follow Suit?

After direction from President Trump, Chris Wright moved the U.S. Department of Energy away from the ALARA radiation standard, arguing it is outdated, overly restrictive, and not supported by modern science.
The NRC’s continued use of ALARA has slowed advanced reactor deployment, driven up costs, and undermined U.S. energy security. Removing it will be a welcome step towards unleashing next-gen nuclear tech.
