Haley Zaremba of Oilprice.com reports that wind has overtaken coal in Texas for the first time ever.
The replacement of coal for wind could be a blueprint for transitioning to low-carbon energy going forward; instead of relying on government mandates and subsidies to shift away from fossil fuels, we should rely on investors and private-business.
“In 2020, for the first time ever, wind power overtook coal in the state’s overall energy mix, ‘the latest sign of renewable energy’s rising prominence in America’s fossil fuel heartland’ according to reporting by the Financial Times this week.”
