Josh Siegel of the Washington Examiner reports that the American Petroleum Institute (API) is launching a new initiative to reduce flaring in the natural gas industry.
- API’s Environmental Partnership will launch a new initiative in which partnership companies will report data on how much they flare, and share best practices on how to limit flaring.
- The Partnership, which has more than 80 members and represents 70% of U.S. oil and natural gas production, is looking for ways to not only limit carbon emissions but methane emissions as well.
- This latest initiative shows a strong environmental commitment from America’s energy companies.
“’This program will help the industry collectively improve operations and continue to drive down emissions,’ Matthew Todd, program director of the Environmental Partnership, told the Washington Examiner.”
