Bloomberg’s Stephen Stapczynski reports that U.S. LNG exports have topped rivals for the first time.
- The U.S. recently became the world’s top LNG exporter, supplying European and Asian markets with a clean affordable energy supply.
- Increasing natural gas production and exports is good for the American economy and will also help wean European countries off their dependence of Russian gas.
- Higher LNG exports that displace Russian gas or the use of coal will reduce greenhouse gas emissions.
“A shale gas revolution, coupled with billions of dollars of investments in liquefaction facilities, transformed the U.S. from a net LNG importer to a top exporter in less than a decade. U.S. natural gas production has surged by roughly 70% from 2010 after a combination of horizontal drilling and hydraulic fracturing unlocked supplies from shale formations across the country.”
