- Toyota is investing $1.29 billion to build an EV battery plant near Greensboro, North Carolina.
- The plant, which is Toyota’s first battery manufacturing site in the United States, is expected to be done by 2025 and will produce enough batteries for 200,000 electric vehicles.
- Through private sector innovation and leadership we are improving are natural and economic environment.
“Initially the North Carolina plant will produce batteries for hybrid electric vehicles, but Toyota says eventually it will make materials for battery electric vehicles at the location. Currently electric vehicles make up about a quarter of Toyota’s sales, but the company says that will increase to 70% by 2030.”
