To modernize infrastructure, start with NEPA reform

  • The National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) is well-intentioned, but has been used as a tool by activists to slow down the deployment of key infrastructure.
  • NEPA’s inefficient environmental review process delays projects by an average of five years, costing millions of dollars and disincentivizing investments.
  • To build key infrastructure and clean energy, lawmakers must reform NEPA to be more effective and efficient.

“Congress is allocating trillions of dollars to infrastructure solutions, but without regulatory reforms, these funds will be caught up in a labyrinth of bureaucratic delay. We can’t modernize our infrastructure without modernizing our regulatory process. Reforming NEPA is the place to start.”
