Forbes’ Alex Knapp reports that a new startup is building a factory that sustainably turns natural gas into fertilizer.
Fertilizer accounts for 1% of global emissions and is essential for people to grow food to eat. Having a sustainable process of making it will reduce emissions and help people to produce their own food.
“The company has a process that it uses to break apart natural gas to produce carbon black, which is commonly used in materials like rubber, as well as hydrogen, which can be used for a variety of purposes—in this case, being combined with nitrogen to create ammonia.”
