These EVs are cheaper to own than their gas-powered counterparts

  • New analysis suggests that the all electric Ford F-150 Lightning is 17% more affordable to own than its gas-powered counterpart.
  • While the Lightning base model is about $10,000 more than the traditional F-150, cost savings occur over time as EVs have fewer maintenance and fueling needs.
  • This analysis may lead to even greater interest in Ford’s latest EV pickup.

“The real cost advantage happens over time, since charging the truck costs less than buying gas, and maintenance will also be less expensive because EVs have fewer moving parts. The same is true for other EVs.”
