Anmar Frangoul of CNBC reports on the world’s largest floating wind farm, which is powering oil and gas operations in the North Sea.
- Norway has opened the world’s largest floating wind operation nearly 90 miles off the coast.
- The farm will produce 88 MW of energy which will power oil and gas operations in the area.
- The production from these turbines should cover 35% of the energy needs of fiver offshore rigs, according to Equinor.
“While wind is a renewable energy source, Hywind Tampen helps power operations at oil and gas fields, the idea being that it will cut these sites’ carbon dioxide emissions in the process.”
