Ben Stern of The Cool Down reports on The Home Depot’s clean energy progress.
- The Home Depot will buy 100 megawatts of solar energy, enough to power 8% of the company’s operations, from National Grid Renewables.
- Home Depot plans to power 100% of its operations with renewable power by 2030.
- The private sector is voluntarily advancing clean power.
“But this recent announcement was not the first time the orange-branded store went green. Over 80 of the company’s stores currently have rooftop solar arrays and many more use wind energy. These developments, when combined with the new solar purchase, are reportedly enough to power at least 500 of The Home Depot’s 2,319 stores.”
