The EV charger that drops from the sky

David Ferris of E&E News writes about Seattle’s plan to increase EV chargers.

  • The city of Seattle is implementing a pilot project to bring more EV chargers online.
  • These chargers will retract from signs, wood poles, and street lamps to serve people who do not have garages and park on the street.
  • This program could bridge the gap between demand and accessible EV infrastructure and put more electric vehicles on the road.

“Seattle’s new pilot program will place 30 chargers throughout the city, with a special focus on disadvantaged neighborhoods. The municipal utility is running the program with input from other city agencies, like the transportation department, which oversees curbs.”
