William Driscoll of PV Magazine reports that clean energy groups have requested that the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) create a plan to improve interconnection studies.
- The groups requested that interconnectivity studies for renewables take months instead of years.
- To reduce costs and improve efficiency the plan that is being proposed would allow for third-party consultants to conduct the studies.
- Commonsense solutions such as this are key to tackling climate change and improving energy and grid reliability.
“So that interconnection studies for large-scale renewables projects may be completed in ‘months instead of years,’ three clean energy trade groups have asked FERC to launch an ‘accelerated, stand-alone’ interconnection rulemaking to implement their recommended approach.”
