Siemens Gamesa launches recyclable wind turbine blades – a ‘milestone’ in renewable energy

  • While wind power produces zero emissions, the waste that it creates is a serious environmental issue.
  • The RecyclableBlade recovery process uses an acidic solution to separate materials from old turbines which can then be used to make new turbines or in other industrial applications like construction or consumer goods.
  • This innovation could play a pivotal role in creating a circular turbine economy.

“The Siemens Gamesa RecyclableBlade for offshore was brought to market in only 10 months: launched in September 2021 and installed at RWE’s Kaskasi project in Germany in July 2022. Customers can now employ the onshore solution at their wind sites.”
