Andrew Rogan writes in The Washington Examiner about the importance of sharks.

The C3 Take
  • Sharks play a pivotal role in the marine food chain which is important to keeping the global fishing industry alive and keeping humans fed.
  • Sharks are also key to the health of coral reefs, which protect shorelines from flooding and erosion.
  • Governments and private industries should collaborate to keep sharks alive and protected.

“The impact of plummeting shark populations might be more subtle than other challenges. But it does impact all of our lives. I know I’ve thrown out a lot of statistics that are difficult to arrive at. Still, the numbers offer a glimpse of the economic value of sharks. The bottom line is that humanity is far better off with these animals than we are without them.”
