- Coral reefs, which over several environmental benefits, are largely in danger due to rising temperatures and climate change.
- The reef that was recently discovered off the coast of Tahiti is in water that is shallow enough for light to reach it, but deep enough to be insulated from fluctuations in water temperature.
- This discovery of this reef is important and will hopefully lead to more conservation in the future.
“As rising sea temperatures threaten the health of coral reefs, researchers have released photos of a recently discovered pristine reef near the coast of Tahiti in the Pacific Ocean. The recently released photographs of the November find highlight the otherworldly beauty lying 230 feet below the ocean’s surface.”
