Ben Soltoff writes in GreenBiz about Remora, a startup that is using carbon capture to lower the emissions of commercial trucks.
- Remora’s technology isolates CO2 from the waste stream by making the exhaust cooler and drier. From there the exhaust gets passed through zeolite, a porous mineral-like substance that selectively absorbs CO2.
- The company is scheduled to begin installing its devices on commercial trucks in 2022 and has recently received $5.5 million in seed funding.
- Innovation, not regulation, will create the technologies that are needed to meaningfully reduce emissions.
“Climate tech solutions can sometimes seem vexingly distant on the horizon, but as climate impacts bear down hard, the urgency of the problem is palpable. That’s why it’s invigorating to see a solution such as Remora, which reduces emissions from long-haul trucking by sucking up carbon dioxide directly from the tailpipe.”
