Ben Geman of Axios reports that pandemic recovery has been slightly greener.
- The International Energy Agency (IEA) has found that governments across the world are set to spend $710 billion on clean energy.
- Last year the private sector invested close to $1 trillion toward the energy transition.
- Analysts project that the world will need to double or triple investments to reach net-zero by 2050.
“'[T]he world still needs to massively expand its clean energy deployment efforts throughout this decade, first and foremost in developing economies, if we are going to preserve the hope of limiting the global temperature rise to 1.5 °C,’ he said.”
