Sonal Patel of Power reports that Oklo will deploy two advanced nuclear reactors in Southern Ohio.
- The company will deploy two of its 15MWe Aurora reactors on the site of a former U.S. gaseous diffusion plant in Pike County, Ohio.
- From 1954-2001 this site enriched uranium for the nation’s nuclear weapons programs and for commercial purposes.
- Because of this, the site already has the infrastructure that is needed to support advanced nuclear reactors, which could cut construction and siting costs by $1 billion.
- Oklo is planning to bring power to the area by 2028.
