Oklo looks to Trump to hasten nuclear permitting

The C3 Take
  • Oklo is advancing its small modular reactor (SMR) project at Idaho National Laboratory, targeting commercial operation by late 2027 or early 2028. The company plans to submit its combined license application (COLA) to the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) later this year, following a pre-application readiness assessment to address potential safety and information gaps.
  • Oklo’s participation in the Department of Defense’s Advanced Nuclear Power for Installations program positions the company to demonstrate its technology on military installations, potentially accelerating deployment and showcasing the viability of SMRs for diverse applications.
  • To unleash the full potential of nuclear energy, the U.S. must build on the ADVANCE Act by reducing regulatory burdens and creating a stronger environment for innovation.
