As Gregory Meyer and Billy Nauman of Financial Times write, The Independent Petroleum Association of America has launched The ESG Center and is embracing an environmental, social, and governance message to win back investors skeptical that fossil fuels have a future.
“Anne Simpson, who leads governance work for Calpers, the largest US pension fund, said oil and gas companies must transform into something new to avoid dying like buggy-whip makers after the advent of trains and cars. ‘Fossil fuels powered so much, which has benefited so many people. And now it’s time to move on,’ she said.”
