Rachel Millard of The Financial Times reports that nuclear power generation will reach record high next year.
- Global nuclear power output is expected to rise 3% in 2024 and hit 2,915TWh, overtaking the previous peak of 2,809TWh in 2021.
- This will be driven by increased generation in China and India and the restarting of plants in France.
- Nuclear is once again being embraced which is good news for energy security, reliability, and emissions reductions.
“At the UN’s COP28 climate summit in Dubai last year, more than 20 countries, including the US, the UK and France, agreed to try to triple global nuclear power capacity by 2050.”
