NextEra doubles down on green hydrogen, other renewables

 Scott Van Voorhis writes in UtilityDive on NextEra’s plans to double down on green hydrogen and other renewables.

  • Florida-based NextEra Energy is planning to build a 500 megawatt wind project to provide power to a hydrogen-fuel cell company.
  • In 2021 alone NextEra has added close to 6,000 megawatts of clean energy to its portfolio.
  • The private sector is voluntarily finding ways to advance clean energy solutions.


“The hydrogen fuel cell company that will be buying power from NextEra’s planned 500 MW wind project plans to build a nearby hydrogen electrolyzer facility, said Rebecca Kujawa, executive vice president and CFO of NextEra Energy.”
