- President Biden has announced that the United States will ship 50 billion cubic meters of LNG annually to Europe to help the continent wean off of Russian natural gas.
- Importantly, the EU has also agreed to build out the infrastructure that is needed to receive American natural gas.
- This is a welcome announcement from the administration that will strengthen our relationships with allies and counter Putin, all while reducing global emissions by displacing dirtier Russian gas.
“The White House pivot has also put the U.S. and its vast oil and gas reserves in shale rock back at the center of a global scramble for energy resources as a bulwark against petrostates and authoritarian regimes. The U.S. is the world’s largest oil and gas producer.”
