Lauren Foster of Barron’s reports on an ETF that is investing in natural disaster relief.
- The $5 million Procure Disaster Recovery Strategy ETF tracks a portfolio of companies that help in the recovery of wildfires and other natural disasters.
- Included in the fund is battery maker Nvidia and Lockheed Martin who have both signed agreements with the Department of Agriculture’s Forest Service and the Colorado Division of Fire Prevention & Control to use AI sensing to track and predict wildfire patterns.
- In 2023, the fund is up 22% and is outpacing the S&P500.
“The strategy is an equal-weight ETF with 49 stocks, including chip maker Nvidia (NVDA), whose shares have risen more than 200% this year. Chanin said while most investors are focused on the chips and artificial intelligence side of the company, what makes the stock relevant to his ETF is its work with risk simulation.”
