- Microsoft, which already has its own climate pledge, has doubled down on its commitment toward sustainability.
- Amazon’s climate coalition has continued to grow to show yet again that the free market is ready to engage on the issues of climate change and sustainability.
- Activists who are critical of these corporations for working for energy companies are misguided. The best way for companies in all sectors to reduce their emissions is through innovation.
“Environmental activists accuse Amazon of hypocrisy for announcing splashy climate change initiatives while the company continues to provide cloud infrastructure to oil and gas companies. Amazon has previously defended this work, saying ‘the energy industry should have access to the same technologies as other industries’ because it wants to ‘help them accelerate development of renewable energy businesses.’”
