The Ripon Advance reports that Representative Cathy McMorris Rodgers has introduced legislation to promote U.S. hydropower.
- Hydropower currently accounts for a little more than 50% of the nation’s renewable energy.
- The legislation includes provisions that ease the permitting process for hydropower and updates federal purchasing requirements for this energy source.
- Rep. McMorris Rodgers’ leadership in this area shows that conservatives are ready to lead on the issue of clean energy.
“’Hydropower is the largest renewable energy source, and it provides clean, reliable and affordable energy to families in eastern Washington,’ said Rep. McMorris Rodgers. ‘In fact, hydropower accounts for roughly 70 percent of our clean energy across all of Washington State.'”
