- Project Nexus is a $20 million project funded by the State of California that will place solar panels above canals.
- Experts estimate that if all of California’s canals were covered in solar panels, 13 gigawatts of renewable power would be generated which would be enough to power 9.75 million households.
- These panels would have the added bonus of shading the canals and lessening water evaporation.
