  • A $200 million AI deal between the Pentagon and Anthropic collapsed after disputes over whether the company’s technology could be used for surveillance of Americans and other unrestricted military uses.

  • After negotiations broke down, the Defense Department cut Anthropic off from government work and instead struck a deal with OpenAI to supply AI systems for military use.
