- House Republicans have introduced the Lower Energy Costs Act which aims to bolster America’s energy sector.
- Oil and gas that is produced in the U.S. is far cleaner than energy that is sourced from Venezuela or Russia.
- The Lower Energy Costs Act also modernizes the permitting process under the National Environmental Policy Act, which delays energy and infrastructure projects by an average of 4.5 years.
- With global energy demand expecting to grow by 50% through 2050, the U.S. can play a pivotal role in providing reliable, affordable, and clean energy to the rest of the world.
“‘Every time we need a pipeline, road or dam, an average of almost 5 years and millions of dollars in costs get added to the project to comply with Washington’s permitting process. That’s too long,’ Speaker Kevin McCarthy (R-Calif.) said in a video. “We can streamline permitting and still protect the environment. That’s a goal worthy of the number one.’
