Andrew Lee of Recharge reports on Form Energy, which has been backed by Bill Gates, Richard Branson, and Jeff Bezos.
- Form Energy uses novel technology that takes in oxygen and converts iron to rust to charge and discharge batteries.
- Form claims that its batteries are able to reliably store and discharge power for 100 hours straight at a rate that is cost competitive with legacy power plants.
- The company will build a $760 million plant in Weirton, West Virginia that will be able to produce batteries starting in 2024.
