Gov. Scott forecasts comeback for nuclear

  • Vermont Gov. Phil Scott is backing legislation that would allow nuclear power to count toward Vermont’s clean energy targets as a means to lower electricity bills and reduce emissions more quickly than relying on wind and solar alone.

  • The proposal would roll back parts of the state’s renewable mandate, open the door to importing nuclear power or building new plants, and mark a potential shift after more than a decade since Vermont Yankee shut down.
