- Across the country excessive regulations and environmental NIMBYism are hindering the deployment of clean energy.
- In Nevada environmentalists are using the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) to prevent a geothermal plant from being completed and in California local activists are shutting down Diablo Canyon, the state’s largest source of carbon-free power.
- While well-intentioned, regulations often hinder private sector innovation and the deployment of carbon-reducing technologies.
- If the United States wants to meaningfully address climate change, it must reduce burdensome, and often outdated, regulations to allow the private sector to thrive.
The U.S. can no longer continue to neglect its compounding infrastructure and clean-energy needs. We aren’t going to regulate our way to a thriving low-carbon economy and a more stable climate. America needs to get back to building again.”
