- Exxon’s plan will limit greenhouse gas intensity—or emissions per unit of input.
- Exxon will stop routine flaring by 2030, with a goal to eliminate flaring all together by 2050.
- Some environmental groups believe that this plan does not do enough, but Exxon is showing that big oil is willing to find ways to lower its carbon footprint.
“‘These meaningful near-term emission reductions result from our ongoing business planning process as we work towards industry-leading greenhouse gas performance across all our business lines,’ CEO Darren Woods said in a statement.”
