- France has long advocated for a nuclear revival on the continent, but has faced push back from Germany and Austria, both of whom want to follow a more renewable heavy energy strategy.
- Atomic energy provides the EU a chance to wean off of Russian energy, reduce emissions, and provide reliable electricity to consumers.
“The statement also commits to the construction of new nuclear power plants and the early deployment of advanced reactors, including small modular reactors worldwide while maintaining the highest levels of safety and security.”
