DOE study: This rooftop solar fix could slash CO2

E&E News’ David Iaconangelo reports that a new Department of Energy study has found a rooftop solar fix that could slash emissions.

Rooftop solar is predominantly found in wealthier neighborhoods. Finding ways to retrofit low-income areas with rooftop solar could cut emissions and electric bills.

“‘A lot of people talk about rooftop solar as, maybe this could be part of the solution for energy justice,’ he said. ‘Whereas now, it’s part of the problem. The motivation of this paper is, maybe there are some policies and business models that have begun to alleviate this problem.’”
