DOE offers $1.9B for transmission reconductoring, advanced tech

As electricity demand surges, the Department of Energy is betting that upgrading the grid we already have may be the fastest path to more power. A new $1.9 billion SPARK funding opportunity will support reconductoring transmission lines and deploying advanced technologies that can quickly expand grid capacity.

At a time when we need the power grid to do more, investing in advanced transmission technologies is the fastest, quickest approach,” said Advanced Energy United’s Dylan Reed.
