- Republican Governor Mark Gordon of Wyoming and Democrat Governor Jared Polis of Colorado have signed a memorandum of understanding which agrees to further the development of direct air capture technology.
- Wyoming will soon be home the largest direct air capture plant in the world, while Colorado is aggressively aiming to reduce its energy-sector emissions.
- The partnership between the two states highlights the importance of interstate, bipartisan collaboration to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and stimulate economic growth.
“Wyoming’s accessible permanent geologic storage and existing infrastructure and Colorado’s developing policy environment to ‘evaluate the regulatory, economic, technological, and research opportunities in the carbon dioxide removal and direct air capture area,’ are cited as driving forces behind the partnership.”
