David Stanway of Reuters reports that coal is still central to China’s energy strategy.
- China is increasing investments in coal to meet energy needs and mining investments have reached record highs.
- China accounts for about 28% of global emissions annually and is emitting more greenhouse gasses than the rest of the developed world combined.
- China has previously stated that they will begin to curb emissions in 2030.
