Coal India to invest over $760 million over four years in solar to cut costs

Reuters reports that Coal India plans to invest $760 million into solar power over the next four years to cut costs.

India is one of the largest polluters in the world. Although Coal India has not announced plans to reduce coal mining, powering its coal operations with solar could potentially reduce India’s emissions.

“Coal India Ltd, the world’s largest coal miner, said on Monday it would invest 56.50 billion rupees ($763 million) by March 2024 to build 14 solar projects to help power its mining operations and cut costs.”
