The Department of Energy recently introduced its Coal FIRST initiative.
- The Department of Energy’s Coal FIRST initiative is producing cleaner and more efficient coal plants, with the goal of reaching zero emissions and producing 47,000 mining jobs.
- We can lower emissions through new technologies as well as through modernizing current technologies to become more efficient.
- Initiatives such as these can produce jobs and benefit our environment.
“To continue to reap the many benefits of coal, we need to make it cleaner. DOE is doing its part via a new initiative called Coal FIRST, which will lay the groundwork for tomorrow’s coal plants by making them flexible, innovative, resilient, small, and transformative. Our goal is that one day those plants will become emissions-free.”
