- North Vancouver will use digital boilers which recover more than 96% of the electricity that is used in bitcoin mining in the form of heat energy.
- In an effort to reduce the emissions of energy-intensive bitcoin mining, we have recently begun to see bitcoin companies partner with nuclear energy providers to power their operations.
- North Vancouver’s efforts could be serve as a launchpad for future cities to use bitcoin mining to heat their homes.
“North Vancouver announced Thursday it would become the world’s first city to be heated almost entirely by bitcoin mining, an innovative way to tackle climate change by creating valuable cryptocurrency coins and usable thermal energy at the same time.”
