CleanTechnica‘s Jonny Tieran writes on Boeing, Alaska Airlines, and NOAA’s partnership to measure airline greenhouse gases mid-flight.
- The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA), Alaska Airlines, and Boeing will use Boeing’s ecoDemonstrator technology to measure greenhouse gases mid-flight.
- By measuring emissions mid-flight, scientists will be able to more accurately verify the effectiveness of mitigation efforts of urban areas near airports and how much airline emissions can impact our planet.
- Innovative technologies such as ecoDemonstrator are helping our scientists and our environment.
“The Alaska Airlines airplane will also be testing other new equipment as part of the ecoDemonstrator program. This will include a new agent for extinguishing fires, which could offer a reduced negative impact on the ozone layer and potentially replace the commonly used Halon 1301.”
