Biggest US grid operator appears to stop short of reforms pushed by Trump and bipartisan governors

  • After pressure from the Trump administration and bipartisan governors to rein in rising electricity prices, PJM released a plan to manage growing data center demand, but left out key elements of the bipartisan proposal.

  • PJM’s approach would encourage data centers to bring their own power and, in some cases, curb usage to avoid blackouts, as policymakers continue to debate how to protect households from higher power bills while keeping the grid reliable.
